Clean Energy from Newfoundland for the World
TAQAMKUK
Taqamkuk or land beyond the sea is the name that the Mi’kmaq people gave in ancient times to the island known to the European settlers as Terra Nova or Newfoundland.
Taqamkuk is the home of our company and project.
The Bounty of the Wind
Newfoundland is rich in an infinite and potent resource: wind energy. Modern technology makes it possible to harness this energy efficiently and make it available worldwide.
We will convert the energy of wind into green molecules for export to global markets.
Green Molecules
Green molecules (hydrogen, ammonia and their derivatives produced from wind or other green electricity) are the basis for the next phase of the energy revolution to replace oil and gas for applications that require high energy density.
Project Taqamkuk owned by Terra Nova Hydrogen will produce and export green hydrogen and ammonia.
Terra Nova Hydrogen
The team of Terra Nova Hydrogen has identified the energy export potential of Newfoundland and particularly the Burin Peninsula as early as 2020 and pursued the development of large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia export hub since then.
In 2023, we are ready to start permitting, engineering and in 2024, construction of the hub.
Miawpukek First Nation
Miawpukek First Nation of Newfoundland is an equity partner in Project Taqamkuk.
This makes Project Takamkuk the only major hydrogen energy project in Canada with direct equity participation of a First Nation.
